    Hi,

I have completed a long update and upgrade process using updraft clone. I am near ready to restore to the production site.

The production site uses a different version of PHP and WP.

I assume I need to update PHP on production site before restoring. Is that correct?
Will WordPress version that clone is using automatically be used when restored to production site?
Do I backup the clone site and restore the clone version?

Just want to make sure I do this all in the correct order so as to avoid any unnecessary down time.

    Thanks

    Rick

    Hi Rick,

    Apologies for the late reply.

    > Yes, this is correct.

    > You need to include the WP core files in the backup and restoration. Just make sure you do not inlcude the wp-config.php file from the restoration.

Do I backup the clone site and restore the clone version?
    > I would suggest securing a “before” backup for both sites.

    Thanks Bryle,

    So just to be sure.

When I do the restore for the production site. I should “restore the clone backup” with all my updated, themes, plugins, files, and database. Everything EXCEPT the config.php file. Is that correct?

The restore will automatically know not to use the clones file names and links and use the naming convention of the production site?

    Thanks for you patience.

    Hi Rick,

    Apologies for the late reply.

Yes, that is correct. UpdraftPlus will automatically change all OLD url with the new URL.
We have a step by step migration guide here – https://updraftplus.com/faqs/how-do-i-migrate-to-a-new-site-location/
