Ability to change wp-content/upgrade folder

Hello, we use Pantheon, we can’t create a folder called wp-content/upgrade as the wp-content/uploads folder is the only folder writable.

Please create a way to use to manually change this, similar to how you already have the ability to update the backup location.

    Hi,
    To help me to understand this situation better, please can you explain, if `wp-content/upgrade` is not writeable, how do you perform plugin, theme and WordPress core updates?
