I migrated a site from a live server to a new server for testing and used the option to Search and replace site location in the database” to my test server. Now that I have finished testing, I’d like to rename it the live server name. I can do this basically with the WordPress General Settings. I’d also like to “Search and replace site location in the database” back to the live server name. It would be real nice if this was just a simple tab on the Advanced Tools page. I could use the full featured “Search / replace database” but I’m a bit nervous to do that. Maybe it is no different that what the migration tool does?

Hi,
Thank you for submitting an idea! We’re unlikely to implement this; as you note, the ability to change your site URL already exists in Settings -> General. My experience of duplicating existing WordPress settings is that it adds little value (it’s saving you a click or two) compared to the work involved (coding, maintaining, answering support questions from users who don’t understand why there are two settings for the same thing, how they interact, etc.).
