When sending a backup directly from one site to another, allow for the destination site to be not accessible with a live internet address

I love the new feature to send a backup to a destination site, but I would like it to also work in reverse.  IE, the destination site can request the backup from the source site.  This way, the destination site can temporarily not be accessible to the internet.  For example, I might have a site on a certain IP for a certain web address, however that web address is still pointing somewhere else according to the internet DNS.  Locally, I have a hosts file that points the web address at my new destination site’s IP, but because the internet DNS still points the web address at the old site, I can’t send the backup directly to the url of the destination.

I hope this makes sense.  I understand there’s a workaround to push the backup to a remote location and then pull it down, but that incurs bandwidth charges with my remote storage provider and I’d love to be able to send the files directly as it’s faster and cheaper.

    Hi Wes,

You can do that in a round about way already, by running a backup with no cloud storage, and then on the destination site, entering the source site’s FTP or SFTP details, and pressing ‘Rescan remote storage’.
