Hi Patrick,
Apologies for the lack of replies on this thread. It had slipped through our system for notifying us of things awaiting replies, and we hadn’t manually checked for a while.
The error message indicates that your web browser, and the controlled site, disagree on the current time. The encrypted protocol used will check the current time, to prevent “replay attacks” in which an attacker can intercept encrypted communications and, though he can’t decode them, he can replay them later. By checking the time, this is rendered impossible. But it does rely on accurate time on both sides, within a reasonable margin. 2 hours is outside of that window.
Other users posting on the thread appear to have a variety of different symptoms, none of which reproduce the error message in Patrick’s case – please open separate threads so that the different things don’t all get jumbled up into one.
I will lock this thread now to prevent it becoming further jumbled – this isn’t intended to stop anyone from opening a new one.
David
