As a user of Google Cloud, i/o and space is money. The use of Zip files is great for novices and Windows users, but what about the rest of us? We’re left out.

It would be great to be able to backup our sites to tar.bz2 for compatibility and tar.xz for size and speed (at a cost of slightly more memory usage).

For an application that is going to be run on Linux servers (mostly), i’m surprised this is not an option. Zip is a rarely used format on Linux systems as we have the superior tar.xz.

    Thank you
