    Hi UpDraftPlus Team

Taking into account the entry into force of the GDPR, I would like to follow the most appropriate steps to make backup copies of the web pages as secure as possible, but also in a way that facilitates my work.

In my case, the simplest way for me is to store automatically, backup copies in Google Drive, encrypting the database with the functionality that contains your plugin, however, for this part I was wondering if the file wp-config.php that also contains sensitive information that could endanger the data, could be encrypted. It’s possible?

Also, I was considering storing the backup copies in other encrypted cloud storage services like Tresorit, but I think that, at the moment, with UpDraft Plus I could not automate backups with Tresorit, as it is currently possible with Google Drive. or Dropbox. Or would it be possible in some way?

According to your opinion, what is the best way to make backup copies, following the guidelines of the GDPR and in the safest possible storage, within the EU?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,

I’m afraid that it is not currently possible to encrypt the file backups with UpdraftPlus.
In this case, I would recommend excluding the wp-config.php file from the backup (via the WordPress Core ‘exclude these’ option).

From what I can see, it appears that Tresorit is not compatible with any of our generic upload methods. As such, it is not currently possible to backup to Tresorit.
We do have a feature requests page where this can be suggested: https://updraftplus.com/feature-requests/

    Best Wishes,
