I have followed the instructions to enter required data. When I click the link to authenticate I get a Microsoft screen which says “We are unable to complete your request.” It is a generic screen with no information. Do you have any other troubleshooting tips? By the way the default URL you suggest needs to be https not http.
August 4, 2016 at 3:57 pm #166756Dee NutbourneModeratorHi,
Microsoft recently updated the developer console to include a newer form of application. You will need to check that the OneDrive application that you set up is a ‘Live SDK’ application. This can be done through your Developer Console.
Could you send us a copy of the full URL of the Microsoft error screen? You can set your reply to private if you prefer.

Here is the URL.
August 4, 2016 at 9:04 pm #166829udadminKeymasterHi Sander,
The error message is saying that the redirect URI you’ve entered in your Live Console doesn’t match the one that is indicated in UpdraftPlus as the right one to enter. Please can you link screenshots of both of those two URLs in the respective consoles?

August 4, 2016 at 9:21 pm #166832SanderParticipantYour instructions say to use this:
https://sanderfeinberg.com/photos/wp-admin/options-general.php
OneDrive gives me an error saying invalid URL and requires https.
Here is the error:“Your URL must be in a valid URL format, begin with https://, and be limited to 255 characters in length.”
So I entered:
https://sanderfeinberg.com/photos/wp-admin/options-general.php
What do I do?
August 5, 2016 at 6:44 pm #166972Dee NutbourneModeratorHi Sander,
Could you log into your Microsoft Application Registration Portal:
https://account.live.com/developers/applications/Is your application listed under ‘My Applications’ or ‘Live SDK applications’?
UpdraftPlus uses the Live SDK applications to connect to OneDrive.Best Wishes,
David NAugust 5, 2016 at 8:47 pm #166985SanderParticipantHi David. I am not sure what you mean. There is only one Application Registration Portal. Yes it is titled “My Applications”. There is no other list for Live SDk. However there is a checkbox which I have had checked since we started this thread. It is under Advanced Options and says “Live SDK Support.” Perhaps I am missing something? As previously mentioned, your documents and YouTube no longer match Microsoft’s pages.
Thanks for your help
August 8, 2016 at 3:10 pm #167211Dee NutbourneModeratorHi Sander,
It appears that Microsoft may have removed the ability for newer accounts to create the old-style Live SDK applications. Unfortunately, the new applications appear to only support https URLs. We will investigate this and attempt to find a workaround as a top priority.
Apologies for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience.

David NAugust 8, 2016 at 5:34 pm #167249SanderParticipantThanks David. It appears I cannot do a local backup if I have a remote backup set up. Is that correct or am I missing something. Should I just turn off OneDrive backup until this is resolved?
August 9, 2016 at 2:52 pm #167375Dee NutbourneModeratorHi Sander,
If remote storage is selected, scheduled backups will always attempt to upload to remote storage. I would recommend disabling OneDrive for the time being.
We will hopefully have an answer for you by the end of this week.

David NAugust 10, 2016 at 3:05 pm #167533Dee NutbourneModeratorHi Sander,
I have taken a look at the OneDrive developer portal, and it does appear that the old-style Live SDK applications have been discontinued for new OneDrive users.
The new style of Applications do allow UpdraftPlus to authenticate and access OneDrive. However, they unfortunately do not allow for non-https sites. As such, any sites not using https will not be able to authenticate with OneDrive.
We will be updating our guides, FAQs and OneDrive add-on to make this clear for the future.
We would also like to offer you a refund for the add-on. Please could you open a ticket through our Customer Support Form, and quote the URL of this thread (https://updraftplus.com/forums/topic/onedrive-authentication/). Our support team will then be able to process the refund.
(The support form displays on that page after clicking ‘search’)
Apologies for the inconvenience,
