Will not delete the archive after unpacking it, because there was no cloud storage for this backup

    Unpacking backup…

Restoring the database (on a large site this can take a long time – if it times out (which can happen if your web hosting company has configured your hosting to limit resources) then you should use a different method, such as phpMyAdmin)…

    Hi Robert,

It’s an out of memory error. It means that WordPress has requested more memory than your host is configured to allow.

The amount of memory – 99090432 bytes – is 94Mb; and that’s really low; according to our statistics, only the bottom 3% of web hosting companies allocate that much memory or less. Can you ask Hostgator for an increase?

Failing that, you could try de-activating all your plugins and move to the default theme before trying to restore, as that may reduce memory usage. Or manually edit the db.gz database file backup and cut out that very large table’s data (wp_slim_stats) – from the name, presumably it’s just a log of visits and isn’t essential?

Hostgator can’t change the limit unless I upgrade to VPS, stripped out the tables and restored went well.
    cheers.
