Hi guys – new customer. I tried three different plugins/methods to get a migration job accomplished over the weekend and when the Advanced WP Users group in FB gave me several recommendations for UDP, I bought it on Saturday and tried twice to implement. After cleaning out the domain’s server that I’m migrating to (there was an older install which I’d updated before the first attempt), and trying the process yet again, I ended up with the same problem, which seems to be, at least partially, a CSS issue. Some elements of the website are there, some are not, and many are displaying improperly. I sent in a request ticket Saturday evening. I haven’t heard anything yet. This client is getting antsy, as am I. When can I expect someone to get in touch with me, please?
September 30, 2014 at 3:03 pm #37090udadminKeymasterHi Sheryl,
Thank you for your order… I did reply to your support request on Saturday, and it was accepted by GMail’s servers… you’d have to ask them what happened to it after that… here’s what I wrote:
OK – let’s have a look! I think I can see the issue.
When I visit https://coachcharrise.com, I can see clearly that it is not like https://charrise.me.
So, as a next step, I open up my web browser’s error console (Control-Shift-J). It is showing me a number of errors.
Most of these are like this:
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found) – https://coachcharrise.com/wp-content/cache/minify/000000/M9RPzs8rSUwu0U3LL8rVNdfPzEvOKU1JLdbPKtYvTi7KLCgpBgA.jsNow, looking at that URL, it is clearly something produced by a minifying plugin (I assume you know what that is, if you’re the developer, so I won’t elaborate!).
Some of the minifying plugins out there pull some funny tricks, which usually don’t work when cloning a site (whether using a plugin such as UD, or by hand or any other method). As a result of this, in the instructions – https://updraftplus.com/faqs/how-do-i-migrate-to-a-new-site-location/ – we put this paragraph: “Also, cacheing and minifying plugins are a common cause of migration problems (whatever method you use). Disable all of those before you create your backup – or alternatively, just be ready to turn them off if the migration stumbles.”
So, to try to resolve your problem, I’d do this:
1) Log in to the dashboard of the cloned (i.e. destination) site, and de-activate all minifying/cacheing plugins. Then see if that fixes it. If it does, try turning them on again.
2) If it does not fix it, then return to the original site, and de-activate those plugins, and then take a fresh backup, and use that fresh backup in a new clone attempt.
Best wishes,

I’ll give the suggested approach a try – will report back.
September 30, 2014 at 4:55 pm #37135SherylParticipantWorked like a charm – thanks!

September 30, 2014 at 9:15 pm #37216udadminKeymasterP.S. What was the name of the minifying plugin? If you let me know, then I can test it out, and if it’s a sufficiently popular one to bother about we can look at adding in some code to automatically detect it and adjust what needs adjusting.
