Timing out during restoration

I’m trying to restore my WordPress website from a backup made using the UpDraftPlus plugin.

I can upload the backed-up files okay, but then when I try to restore the site, it’s timing out half way through the restoration (there’s about 745 MB of zipped files, most of it uploaded content).

I’ve contacted my hosting company and they have increased the max_execution_time for PHP scripts for rjcnetwork.org to 180 seconds. But I’m still experiencing the same problem.

Do you have any ideas of things I could try?

Hi Simon,

Please could you try restoring each section of the backup one-by-one? This will allow the maximum amount of time available for each section.

When doing so, restore the Uploads section first, and the database last.

If the Uploads restoration is timed out, wait approximately 5 minutes, then reload the UpdraftPlus settings page. You should see a message at the top of the page asking if you would like to resume the restoration.
