I just successfully migrating my site to a test site (before going live).. worked like a charm but my test sites admin and password got replaced by my main sites. Is that normal and will that mess anything up? Especially if I make changes on my test site and implement them on my live site.

    Thanks!
    Justin

    Hi Jeremiah,

Glad that you had a successful migration!

Yes, this is normal; see the migration guide, here: https://updraftplus.com/faqs/how-do-i-migrate-to-a-new-site-location/

    Relevant section:

If you do return to the WordPress dashboard, then don’t be surprised if you have to log in again – having replaced your site database (including the users), WordPress will need you to re-identify yourself, using valid login details from the imported database (i.e. the site that the backups are from):

Login credentials are part of the WordPress database; so, restoring a remote database replaces the users (including their internal IDs, which are linked to all other content and various other things across the database).

    David
