    Hi,

I plan to copy an existing site over to a new url. Then change the WordPress settings to the new domain name. So 2 sites the same, but different url’s

The original site is a Directory Theme heavily customised. I would like all that to remain but work on the new URL.

What steps should I make to get it done right?

    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Drachsi

    Hi,

Please follow this migration guide – https://updraftplus.com/faqs/how-do-i-migrate-to-a-new-site-location/
That is used if you want to test or make changes to your site before going and migrate changes back to live site when done.
Your live site won’t be affected at all as it will be a different website.

    Thanks,
    Bryle

Still not certain if I should tick the Database restoration.

    To explain.

I have a website which uses a customised Theme,

The site has 2 landing pages, 1 each for 2 different types of website.

After migration I will delete the non required landing page, so 2 sites with 2 different web addresses, but using the same Theme.

Hope I have explained it ok?

    Regards

Yes, you need to restore all component. UpdraftPlus will update all old URL with the new URL automatically.
Just make sure you follow the guide.
