    Hi Richard,

Could you run the following test with your browser’s developer tools?

*In your browser, open your Developer Tools (instructions on how to do this for each major browser can be found here)
*Open the ‘Console’ tab if it is not already open
*Reload the page and attempt to create the key

Do you see any errors appear in the developer console? Could you send me a copy of screenshot of those errors?

I have the same issue. Here is the screenshot of the error from the console : https://www.vinitysoft.com/tmp_test/tmp.png

    Hi Vincent,

I’ve replied to the support ticket you opened about this.

P.S. Richard also opened a support ticket – and solved the issue one of the ways mentioned there (switching to a newer PHP version).

This is the output from the console.

Password fields present on an insecure (https://) page. This is a security risk that allows user login credentials to be stolen.[Learn More] <unknown>

How do you switch php version.

    Hi Richard,

You will need to contact your hosts/server admin and ask them to update the PHP version.

    Hi Richard,

Sorry to hear that! In the latest UD release, there’s a selector to allow you to choose a smaller key size, which cuts down the time needed on hosts which generate the keys slowly (which is due to missing PHP modules – specifically, one of openssl or the gmp PHP modules should be there, otherwise much slower methods have to be used by the cryptography library).

I am having the same problem. Tried 3 different browsers and different sizes.
In Chrome at least I get a pop up window saying it was created successfully and that I should copy and paste it. But there’s nothing to copy and paste!

    Hi,

The key should be displayed underneath everything else in that pop-up. Depending on screen size/resolution, you may need to scroll down within the pop-up.

If the key still doesn’t display, could you run the following test with your browser’s developer tools?

    • In your browser, open your Developer Tools (instructions on how to do this for each major browser can be found here)
    • Open the ‘Console’ tab if it is not already open
    • Reload the UpdraftPlus page and generate a new key

Do you see any errors appear in the developer console? Could you send a copy of those errors?

    Best Wishes,
    David N

Make sure that you have the mcrypt php module installed on your server. That did it for me

Turns out it was a dumb mistake for me.
I expected to see the key on the screen but didn’t realize I had to scroll down for the key to show. Duh!

I noticed an update to the plug-in, the look of the pop up window was different, and since I have had no issues with it at all. Using it on several sites and they’re all working great with the plug-in now.
