For some reason, my backup is stuck at split 11. Not sure you want me to paste the entire log file here or what I need to do. It did fail earlier copying over to Google Drive because of space then I discovered that the UpdraftPlus was not pruning prior backups.

    Please advise.

    Hi Ed,

Please could you send us a copy of the latest backup log? This can be found in the UpdraftPlus Existing Backups tab.

The contents will be too long to post here directly, but you can use an online service such as Dropbox or Pastebin, and post the link here.

    Best Wishes,
    Bryle

    Hi Ed,

It appears that the backup is including some files/directories that are not strictly needed for the backup.

Please could you try adding the following to the Uploads ‘exclude these’ list:
    et_temp,wpcf7_captcha

Please could you also check with your server admin/hosts if it is possible to increase the PHP maximum execution time limit for the site?

    Best Wishes,
    David N

Ok – Modifications made to backup job and php max-execution-time bumped to 1230. Running backup now.

I executed the backup again and it got to the same split 11 then canceled job. Job log is once again posted to PastBin here: https://pastebin.com/GKeQgHSL

    Hi Ed,

From the latest log, there are overlapping/duplicated resumption processes during the backup. This indicates that the server is overloaded at the time of the backup.

Please could you try rescheduling the backup for a quieter time of day?

Also, are any of the files in the Uploads directory particularly large (e.g. video)?

    Best Wishes,
    David N

I added WP Smush to my site and had it re-compress all images in the Uploads folder. Backup did run last night but issuing a PCL Zip error – a lot of them – on split 10. In fact, the log file is so large that it exceeds the max paste size for PasteBin. Below is the error that repeatedly appears in split 10 for all files. I can send the log file via email if necessary 0- not sure if I can upload to a Dropbox or not.

On the CPanel website, I see in the PHP Options panel that there is a ZIP option unchecked. Is this perhaps the issue assuming that UpdraftPlus is using an embedded ZIP module that doesn’t match the CPanel Zip module?

    Hi Ed,

This error usually indicates that there was not enough room on the server to create the backup file.

Please could you check the amount of available space in your hosting account?

If it is full, I would recommend deleting any unfinished backups from UpdraftPlus.
You will need ~1200MB of free space at the minimum.

All of the prior backups that were unfinished including their log files were deleted by me on the hosting site. The CPanel root visual page dialog shows that I am currently using 2.9 GB of an infinite amount of space available but it doesn’t break down each individual folder – not even in File Manager. It does show that I have 40,033 files out of 250,000 files in use. The UpdraftPlus Site Size shows the following:
    Plugins: 80.2 MB count
    Themes: 20 MB count
    Uploads: 1009.9 MB count
    WordPress core: 23.3 MB count
    Others: 15.9 KB count

I am running the backup again after compressing images even further. This msg was posted in the batch log prior to creating files:

0000.178 (0) Free space on disk containing Updraft’s temporary directory: 1906948.9 MB

Looks like there is plenty of space for the backup files.

I really need some help getting past these failed backups. I have a re-developed site that needs to go to production but without a backup in place I am stuck.

In the last job that stopped, I noticed that the Max Execution Time is set @ 900 seconds yet my PHP Max Execution Time is set at 3600 seconds. Wait…a PHP.INI file located in the root was superceding my PHP setting @ 900 seconds. I updated that value in the root PHP.INI file and re-running job.
